Mounting media for IHC
The VectaMount series of mounting media is optimized for immunohistochemistry (IHC), and both aqueous and non-aqueous mounting media are available. VectaMount Express Mounting Medium is a non-aqueous mounting medium which enables mounting of cell and tissue specimen following IHC staining. This saves time by eliminating the need for extensive ethanol and solvent-based clearing agents (e.g., xylene) prior to coverslipping. Alternatively, VectaMount AQ Aqueous Mounting Medium is an aqueous mounting media for mounting following IHC staining.
Non-setting mounting media for IF
The VECTASHIELD mounting media are well-established products that complete the workflow and provide excellent signal retention for image acquisition and specimen archiving during immunofluorescence (IF) experiments. The VECTASHIELD media are available with counterstains.
A non-setting medium obviates the need for curing, making it useful for immediate imaging. VECTASHIELD Antifade Mounting Medium does not solidify and inhibits rapid photobleaching of fluorescent proteins and fluorescent dyes. VECTASHIELD PLUS Antifade Mounting Medium is an improved non-setting medium which protects against fading across the visible spectrum and is compatible with most commercially available fluorophores.
Setting mounting media for IF
A mounting medium that sets, while useful for long-term storage and repeated imaging, must be cured over the course of hours to days before it is ready for imaging.
VECTASHIELD HardSet Antifade Mounting Medium is the original curing (hard setting) antifade mounting medium for IF applications. VECTASHIELD Vibrance Antifade Mounting Medium is an upgraded version with superior ease of use and retention of specific staining intensity over time. Both VECTASHIELD HardSet and VECTASHIELD Vibrance will harden at room temperature in 20 minutes, eliminate the need to secure the coverslip with nail polish, and are convenient for use with oil immersion microscopy.
