N-GARDE mycoplasma PCR reagent set with internal control
Fast, sensitive and reliable mycoplasma detection for cell cultures
The N-GARDE Mycoplasma PCR Reagent Set is a highly sensitive and specific kit designed for the rapid detection of mycoplasma contamination in cell cultures. Mycoplasma contamination is a common and serious issue in biological research, affecting up to 30% of cell cultures and compromising the reliability and reproducibility of experimental results. Routine testing with N-GARDE ensures the integrity of your research and the safety of your biological products.
Key features:
- Rapid results: Complete detection protocol in approximately 5 hours.
- High sensitivity and specificity: Detects a broad range of mycoplasma species, including M. fermentans, M. hyorhinis, M. orale, M. salivarium, and more, as well as Acholeplasma and Spiroplasma species.
- Internal control included: Ensures test reliability by ruling out PCR inhibition and false negatives.
- Ready-to-use mix: All PCR reagents are pre-mixed and optimized, including loading dye for direct gel analysis.
- Easy protocol: Simple sample preparation and PCR setup—no need for radioisotope-labeled probes or complex reagent calculations.
- Research use only: Intended for research applications, not for diagnostic use.

How it works
The N-GARDE kit uses PCR amplification of a conserved, mycoplasma-specific 16S rRNA gene region. After amplification, results are visualized by agarose gel electrophoresis. Positive samples generate a 270 bp band, while the internal control appears at 357 bp, confirming the validity of each test.
Kit contents
- Reaction mix (200 μl)
- Internal control DNA template (20 μl)
- Internal control primers mix (100 μl)
- Buffer solution (1 ml)
- Positive template control (20 μl)
Storage & stability
Store at -20°C. The kit is stable for 36 months when kept in the dark under recommended conditions. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and prolonged exposure to light.
Applications
- Routine screening of cell cultures for mycoplasma contamination
- Quality control in research laboratories
- Ensuring the reliability of cell-based experiments
