Euroclone
Serum for cell culture
We offer a wide range of serum for cell culture from Euroclone. High quality fetal bovine serum (FBS) can come from any EU (European Union) and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) approved countries. Both regulations require that all FBS, regardless of country of origin, must be tested to confirm virus absence. The raw material is collected in closed sterile bags to avoid bacterial contamination and high level of endotoxins, and are shipped and stored at -20°C.
Quality control
The quality of the sera from Euroclone is checked at each step of the production process; the filtration and dispensing are performed under positive pressure in HEPA-filtered environmentally controlled rooms. To ensure homogeneity, serum is “true-pooled”: it is first filtered through a series of 0.1 μm pore-size filters and then pooled. All sera are tested for the absence of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi, yeast and Mycoplasma. A physical-chemical screening is performed on all batches to assess level of several parameters, like osmolality, haemoglobin, endotoxin, total protein, pH and many others. Each batch of FBS is tested for its ability to support in vitro growth of specific cell lines; three important performance criteria are evaluated in the Quality Control Program: growth promotion, cloning efficiency, and plating efficiency.
Treatments
Heat inactivation and gamma irradiation are available as treatment for most Euroclone sera. Please inquire if interested.
